It's Hard to Bleed Green

As the world's biggest Phillies fan, I must admit I turn my attention to the Eagles when the Phillies season ends. Not before it ends mind you. It seems like the Philly sports crowd has forgotten about the best team in baseball and is ready for some football. WIP has gone to an 'All Eagles, All the time' format. I get it, football fans were worried they wouldn't have a season, the free agent signing period was compressed so there was a lot to talk about. The Birds signed some huge free agent names in Nnamdi Asomugha, Jason Babin and Vince Young. They traded Kevin Kolb for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Major moves, the Eagles are feeling the pressure to win a championship. Their neighbors on the other side of Pattison Avenue aren't making it easy, as the Phillies filled the one hole they had with Hunter Pence. I know they could use a bullpen piece but come on. Does anyone still doubt the Phillies will be the National League representative in the World Series? Where am I going with this you might ask? Let's see how Domonic Brown and Asante Samuel reacted to their teams' latest moves.

This week is as close to actual reporting as I will ever get. I DVR'd Asante Samual's impromptu to press conference at Eagles camp. Asante has a lot to say about the Eagles acquiring Asomugha and Rodgers-Cromartie. His two best nuggets were, "If I'm not appreciated here I'll move on". And, "If they are tired of my big playmaking ability they will move me out". Does that sound like a 'team' guy? Does he sound like a guy who would take a lesser role to help win a Super Bowl? The Eagles paid this guy $56 million dollars. I wish I was as 'unappreciated' at my job. I guess some guys will never get it. Maybe that's why the Eagles haven't won a Super Bowl, just sayin'.

I tried to DVR the Domonic Brown press conference but I couldn't find it. The only reaction by Dom was to ask Charlie what he needed to work on to get back to the Bigs. The Phillies rookie gets it, the Eagles vet cries like a bitch. Are the Phillies just lucky that their stars are quality guys? The Phillies go about the business of winning with class. The latest season of 'As the Eagles Turn' has just begun. Let's hope I don't have to tune in to that soap opera till mid November.

Keep It Classy Philly!

  1. Samuel signed with the Eagles because of his head job, and Belichick didn't care for his ramblings at all, and didn't miss him when he left. But don't group all the Eagles with Samuel, just sayin.

Are the Phils a better organization from top to bottom? Yes. Run better? Yes. Core group better? Probably, but the Eagles have some pieces... a lot of pieces lmao. If you want a decision based on the two examples above, Phils hands down. Just sayin DB... ;)

  3. I was just trying to show the differences between baseball & football players. The Eagles still have an elite attitude when it comes to their fans. And they haven't won anything. I still remember Joe Banner telling a season ticket holder on WIP to not buy tickets if he didn't like how they were running the Eagles. I could never see David Montgomery saying anything like that to the fans.
